Morgan Hoping To Hear More From ND

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Notre Dame grabbed the attention of Christian Morgan when he visited South Bend back in April, and although he’s since made a commitment to Baylor, the 2018 Texas defensive back still has an eye on the Irish.

Earlier this week, at The Opening here at Nike World Headquarters Morgan told Irish Sports Daily he’s remained in contact with Notre Dame defensive backs coach Todd Lyght, but hasn’t really heard from defensive coordinator Mike Elko in a while.

“Coach Lyght has been saying he likes my talent,” Morgan explained. “He came to see me at my school, Coach Elko came to see me too.

“They liked my workout, like my work ethic and stuff. They were just saying to keep it up and he’ll stay in contact.”

Morgan committed to Baylor back on May 1st.

“I have family down there, so I kind of made a family decision, but I’m still open to other schools,” he said.

In addition to Notre Dame, the Porter High School standout has been in contact with Arizona State and Texas.

But the Irish continue to be a program he has a strong interest in, which is no surprise since he said they would be his top school with an offer following his trip.

“History, prestige,” Morgan said of what he likes about Notre Dame. “It’s just a great program to be around.”

Morgan is hoping he has a chance to take an official visit to Notre Dame.

“I definitely would try to get back up there sometime,” he said.

 “I want to see more about the academic side. I know it’s prestigious, but how my degree plan would fit with what I’m trying to do. I already know Coach Lyght spent like 14 years in the NFL, so I know he’ll get me right. I just want to see the academic part to make it a complete fit.”

Morgan, who wants to study Business, was excited to be a part of the summer’s biggest recruiting event.

“This is amazing to come out here and showcase my talents in front of everybody. It’s a really humbling experience to come out here and compete with the best because all it is is competing every day.”
