BREAKING: Notre Dame Lands RB Smith

Notre Dame landed commitment No. 13 on Sunday afternoon as 2018 Lee County (N.C.) running back Jahmir Smith tweeted out the good news.

The three-star prospect joins 2018 four-star running back Markese Stepp in the class, and the two will provide a nice combo going forward.

Running backs coach Autry Denson was a big factor in Smith’s commitment, and the two had developed a solid relationship dating back to the spring.

“Coach Denson is a good guy,” explained Smith. “He talks about where he would use me at Notre Dame and stuff. He sends me motivational quotes every day.”

Smith ran for 2,130 yards and 41 touchdowns as a junior, but he’s not just good on the field. The 5-foot-11, 198-pounder boasts a 4.43 GPA and could potentially go into the medical field.

“I have thought about majoring in medical stuff,” said Smith. “I am into Biology, but I am still thinking about my major.”

The Irish topped Cal, Duke, Havard, Louisville, NC State, North Carolina, Tennessee, USC, And Wisconsin among many others.

Great combination of Smith and Stepp. Hope Kelly is serious (this time) about developing a power running game, especially inside the 10 yd line, instead of his favorite fade routes.
