2018 Langston Hughes (Ga.) cornerback Telly Plummer plans to announce his college on Friday, which is his birthday. Those plans could change, but as of Tuesday, the three-star prospect felt he would be able to make his decision on July 28th.

“I’m at a 10 to get this process over with,” laughed Plummer. “I am going to pick between Louisville and Notre Dame.”

The 6-foot, 185-pounder was at Louisville over the weekend but didn’t make it to South Bend as he wanted. The Plummer family enjoyed seeing the sights and sounds of Louisville, which included seeing the new facilities coming to Louisville.

“Louisville was a great atmosphere,” stated Plummer. “I enjoyed the coaches, and my parents loved what they saw. They have a lot of construction going because they are building a new weight room, locker room, and a new facility.

“When my class gets there in 2018, Louisville will have everything new for us. Everything went well, and it was a nice visit.”

Defensive backs coach Lorenzo Ward has been the leading force for Louisville in Plummer’s recruitment, and he has a unique recruiting pitch.

“Coach Ward has told me from day one they were losing all five of their starters in the secondary and I would have a big chance to come in and play,” Plummer said.

It’s rare for a program to lose so many starters from the secondary, so it’s easy to see why that’s appealing for an incoming freshman. However, Notre Dame isn’t going down without a fight, as defensive backs coach Todd Lyght and head coach Brian Kelly have let Plummer know he is wanted.

“Coach Lyght is a big reason I like Notre Dame,” Plummer explained. “He has been coming at me since January. Coach Lyght played 10 years in the league and won a Super Bowl. What better coach could you want?

“I have spoken with Brian Kelly too. He told me wanted me to visit and that I could be a great player. Coach Kelly also said they needed me.”

The Georgia native says he hasn’t made a decision and while it could be possibly pushed back so he can visit Notre Dame, Plummer will look to get as much feedback from those around him as possible.

“I haven’t really made a decision,” said Plummer. “I am still discussing it with my family. They have told me where they want me to go, but I am the one making the decision.

“Both schools are telling me a lot of the same things, so it’s going to come down to the little things from each school to see if I want to go there or not.”
