Notre Dame opened its 2017 campaign with almost a three-hour long practice on Tuesday at Culver Academy. The Irish weren’t in pads, so practice number one was about establishing and carrying over good habits developed in the spring.

“It’s the first day – we’re trying to lay the programming down,” head coach Brian Kelly said after practice. “Physical improvement is probably what I can tell you more than anything else and guys not making the same mistakes they made in the spring.
