Michigan State Scouting Report - Defense

Mark Dantonio's Michigan State program was built around great defense. They had a three year stretch under former coordinator Pat Narduzzi where they were a dominant unit.

From 2011-2013 they were ranked 5th, 5th, and 1st in yards per play. Over that same time they were 6th, 5th, and 2nd in S&P+. There is no way to say that they were anything but outstanding during that time.

But since then they haven't quite been at the same level. They haven't been bad. Just not elite.
