2019 FL LB One To Watch
2019 Florida linebacker Jahmar Brown has more than a dozen big-time offers and has gained interest from many more.
“I am up to 16 offers and Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Florida, and Florida State are showing interest,” said the St. Thomas Aquinas High School standout.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder explained what college coaches like about his game.
“They say that they like my aggression, my speed, my quickness and my instincts,” Brown said.
Brown has the size and all the attributes to be a very talented linebacker at the next level, and that is why he has gained interest from Notre Dame as well of late.
“The athletic director and coaches have emailed me a few things about the program and some of the coaches have followed me on Twitter, but we don’t text or anything like that,” said the junior linebacker.
Brown said he would love to visit Notre Dame, but due to his busy schedule and challenges with airfare, a visit is out of the question right now. Still, the Florida native knows about the rich history in South Bend and if given the chance to visit, he has a list of things he would like to learn about.
“You just can’t talk about college football and the best programs that have been a part of college football and not mention Notre Dame,” he said. “If you make a top 10 list of the greatest college football programs, you have to mention Notre Dame and you can’t skip them, which really boosts my interest because if they have once been at the top, they can obviously be back and if they can be back, I want to be a part of that and on top of football they have great academics.
“But I want to learn more about the defensive coordinator, that is first and foremost. Then I want to learn more about the campus and how everything operates around the school.”
The junior standout has plenty of time to visit schools and make a final decision, but has thought about the factors that will go into his choice and when he wants to make it.
“I am going to be staying at a college for four years so the area of the college is a big factor. The academics is another and me having a good relationship with the people in the area I will be staying and my coaches. I know I will release my top schools after the season, but as for a commitment date, I see it being after my senior season.”
