Notre Dame will host one of the top players in the 2020 class this weekend. South Columbia (Pa.) receiver Julian Fleming‍ will get his first look at Notre Dame on Saturday night.

“I’m excited to get to Notre Dame,” stated the 6-foot-3, 175-pounder. “I want to see the game.”

Fleming might only be a sophomore, but he already holds offers from the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

The Catawissa (Pa.) native admits he doesn’t know much about Notre Dame, but he’s ready to learn more.

“I am still researching all the schools,” Fleming said. “I don’t know much about Notre Dame. I know the gold helmets and white jerseys.”

The explosive receiver has made his way to see many of schools that extended offers as he has been to Penn State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

Penn State enters this week as the No. 2 ranked team in the country and Fleming believes it starts with the coaching staff led by head coach James Franklin.

“The coaching staff is great,” explained Fleming. “It’s a great group of people. They show the recruits how much they care about the players on the team. Everyone around here loves Penn State.”

The offers haven’t phased Fleming as he knows he is only getting started and he has noticed others in his class getting offers too.

“It’s exciting, but it’s humbling too,” Fleming stated. “I need to keep working because I know all the other talent out there is working.”

The finer details of the receiver position have Fleming’s attention, and it’s paying off.

In eight games in 2017, Fleming has recorded 34 receptions for 834 yards and 16 touchdowns.

“I have been working every aspect of my game,” Fleming said. “I have worked on catching short passes and going from there. I don’t know if there is any big weakness, but I am working on my footwork and getting better releases off the ball.

“If you put it up there, I’ll probably come down with it nine of ten times on jump balls. I like bubble screens to get out in space too.”

As for his visits, Fleming is focused on learning and taking in what each program has to offer. He knows he has plenty of time to make a decision and just wants to educate himself on each school.

“I’m just looking for a school with good academics and coaches that care about you on and off the field,” said Fleming.
