Francis Howell North (Mo.) receiver Maurice Massey‍ is quickly becoming a name to watch in the 2019 class. The 6-foot-4, 180-pounder holds early offers from Boston College, Bowling Green, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, and Kentucky.

The St. Louis native will get his first look at Notre Dame in November after the Irish staff reached out to him recently.

“I will be going to the Navy game on November 18th,” Massey told Irish Sports Daily. “They have been in contact with me lately. I have traded a few messages on Twitter with the recruiting staff.

“They liked my film and wanted me to come up for a visit to see me in person.”

Massey hasn’t taken any visits recently, as he is focused on this season, but he has plans to check out two of the best in the Big Ten.

“I haven’t taken any visits this fall,” stated Massey. “I’m waiting until after football season, but I’ll be going to Michigan State and Ohio State.”

It’s not a shock to those around Massey that he will visit Columbus and East Lansing as those were his childhood favorites.

“Michigan State and Ohio State were my dream schools,” said Massey. “I have always watched the Buckeyes play. They produce good players like Braxton Miller, and it’s just a beautiful place to play.

“I liked Michigan State because it’s one of their rivals. It’s just been one of my favorite schools.”

Despite the early attention, Massey is focused on improving his game, but also earning more offers so he can pick the school that’s right for him.

“It’s exciting, but you have to stay humble and work hard to earn more,” Massey explained. “You can only go to one school, but it’s been fun.”

In 2017, Massey has dealt with teams game planning for him, which means he is seeing double and even triple teams on Friday night.

Massey has put in the work to deal with complex coverages and feels it’s a strength heading into the stretch run.

“I feel like getting open and scoring when I touch the ball are my strengths,” Massey stated. “I have two or three people on me, and I can now see where and what I need to do to get open. I understand coverages. I have to be smart and precise when I have two or three people guarding me.”

While he has seen success beating double and triple teams, Massey isn’t satisfied and is working to improve his game without the ball in his hands.

“I want to get learn the game even more,” explained Massey. “If it’s a run play, I want to know who to block so I can help them out. I want to know everything more.”

When it comes to his visits to Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, Massey will be paying close attention to the environment that surrounds each program.

“When I went to Iowa and Iowa State, I was hooked because they were big about family and having a good environment,” said Massey. “I really liked it. I want a coach that is going to stay there for the long run and wants to be there.”

As for his trip to South Bend, Massey also knows he wants to get the full experience inside the stadium and with the staff.

“I want to experience Notre Dame Stadium,” Massey said. “I want to see the people and the atmosphere. Getting the chance to speak to the coaches is big too. I want to see what they’re actually about on my visit.”
