Bowers Makes Most Of Quick Notre Dame Trip
Zach Bowers got to South Bend mid-afternoon on Saturday, but the 2019 Arizona linebacker had plenty of time to see what Notre Dame was all about and to see the Irish blitz by USC, 49-14.
“I had a lot of fun,” the 6-foot, 205-pounder said. “I enjoyed the game.
“I landed probably around 2 o’clock in Fort Wayne, so we drove over to South Bend. I got there just in time for the Player Walk and then got to go on the field for pregame. Then we got end zone seats.”
Bowers, who has early offers from Arizona State, Oregon State and South Dakota State, enjoyed the atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium for the matchup with the Trojans.
“It was really awesome,” the Chandler High School standout said. “Everyone was involved in the game. It was really fun.
“I thought Notre Dame played very well.”
After the game, Bowers and the other visiting recruits had the chance to go inside the Irish locker room.
“It was great,” he said. “It was very electric in the locker room. It was really fun to be there to experience it.”
Given his late arrival, the Chandler, Ariz., native didn’t get to see much of the campus in South Bend, but he did have the opportunity to speak with Irish assistant coach Del Alexander for a bit.
“He’s from Arizona State, so I knew him previously,” Bowers said of Alexander. “He kind of knew about me and said they would watch my film this week and evaluate me from there.”
Bowers doesn’t have any other visits scheduled at the time, but is looking forward to hearing back from the Irish.
“It’s very exciting. Notre Dame is such a big school, so it’s just really exciting.”
