2019 Ohio DT Calls Notre Dame "Amazing"

2019 defensive lineman Cavon Butler‍ was in attendance on Saturday to witness Notre Dame’s blowout win over USC and the Whitmer High School standout was impressed with South Bend.

“It was amazing,” he said. “The atmosphere, how every home game sells out and how much everybody loves football was great. The campus was more modern than other campuses I have been on. It was very up to date.”

During his tour of the campus, he was able to see many things and enjoyed hearing what his tour guide had to say about Notre Dame.

“We got to see their athletic complex, and they talked about the history of the school, we also got to go into the locker room,” said Butler.

After touring the facilities and the campus, Butler got to experience an Irish game inside Notre Dame Stadium and was blown away by the energy.

“The atmosphere during the game was crazy,” the Ohio native expressed. “The fans would get loud for anything, usually fans don’t get loud over tackles, but Irish fans get loud.”

The Irish dominated the game, winning 49-14, and this was a pleasant surprise for the young defensive lineman.

“I thought Notre Dame played very good, I thought it would be a close game, but I guess I was wrong,” Butler laughed.

Throughout the game, there were plenty of things to watch, but the 6-foot-4 265-pounder keyed into his position group.

“I focused on the defensive line,” he said. “I didn’t really focus on one specific player, but I was really focusing in on them the whole time.”

Butler left early and wasn’t able to talk to any coaches or players during the visit, but departed feeling good about the Irish.

“Whatever opens up for me, I feel like Notre Dame is somewhere I could go, but I need to just focus finishing up having a good year this year and next year,” expressed Butler.

Along with that, the 2019 recruit responded with two words when asked if he would like to visit South Bend again in the future if given the chance.

“Yes, Sir,” Butler said confidently.
