2020 NJ QB Impressed By Notre Dame Trip
After visiting Notre Dame this past weekend, 2020 New Jersey quarterback Michael Alaimo already wants to get back to South Bend as soon as he can.
“I want to go back for a camp or a visit I just want to go back up there,” the sophomore strongly stated. “It was a great place and Notre Dame is very nice.”
The New Jersey native, who already has offers from Pittsburgh and Rutgers, is adamant about wanting to get back to Notre Dame because he was blown away by the experience he had during the trip to see the Irish beat North Carolina State.
“It was great, I had a good time and it was a great experience,” expressed Alaimo. “I got to walk around the campus, see the locker rooms, go on the field pre-game, seeing the film room and coaching room.”
Walking around campus, taking in the uniqueness and different atmosphere South Bend offers, Alaimo highlighted the many things he got to see when touring the Notre Dame campus.
“The campus was beautiful,” said Alaimo. “I also got to see Touchdown Jesus, the Golden Dome, the weight room and got to take pictures with the jersey, which was really cool.”
Along with embracing the facilities and different sites on campus, the 2020 recruit got to experience the eye-opening atmosphere during the Irish’s ranked showdown with NC State.
“The atmosphere was great; everyone was loud and cheering it was really cool,” explained Alaimo. “Everyone was really loud and the student section would do the game day push-ups, which made it really cool.”
Despite the crazy student section and many distractions around him during the game, Alaimo was able to key into how the Irish played especially the Irish’s junior signal-caller.
“I thought they played really well,” expressed Alaimo. “I focused on Brandon Wimbush, he played really well. He threw two touchdowns and ran one. I took tips on how he was reading the field and how he was throwing the ball pregame.”
To top off a very good visit, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound signal-caller was able to talk to quarterbacks coach Tom Rees and a couple recruiters for Notre Dame on his visit.
“The quarterback coach (Tommy Rees) told me it was good to start a relationship early, since I am only a sophomore and for me to back for a camp,” Alaimo said.
Despite the interest in Notre Dame, the youngster still has a lot of time to visit other schools and will visit Penn State soon.
