2018 OH WR Visits Notre Dame, Hoping For Offer
With several offers from big-time football programs and prestigious academic institutions, Kory Taylor is trying to find a balance between the two.
On Saturday, the 2018 Ohio wide receiver was in South Bend, checking out Notre Dame, a school that could offer that balance.
“It went really well,” the 6-foot-5, 200-pounder from Hilliard, Ohio said.
Taylor currently has offers from schools like Louisville, West Virginia, Boston College, Syracuse, Rutgers, Kentucky, Ohio State, Harvard, Brown, Penn, Princeton and Yale among several others.
He doesn’t have an offer from Notre Dame at this point, but the Hilliard-Bradley High School standout is hoping that changes. He spoke with Irish wide receivers coach Del Alexander and Notre Dame assistant Mike Elston during Saturday’s stop.
“He kind of just said, ‘Hopefully you like what you see here,’” Taylor recalled. “‘We’re going to stay in touch.’
“I’m just going to stay in contact with them and see where things go. Hopefully, I can contact them in the next couple of days to see where they stand with me with an offer. It sounds like they might be getting close, but I’m not really sure yet.”
It’s obvious Notre Dame is an offer that would mean a lot to him.
“It’d be a huge offer for me just from an academic standpoint and with the athletic tradition they have there,” Taylor said.
He also had a chance to tour Notre Dame before the Irish’s victory over Wake Forest.
“I got to see some of the sports facilities, they were really nice,” he said. “I got to go see the locker room and field. I stayed and watched the game. The atmosphere there was amazing, one of the best atmospheres in college football.”
Were Notre Dame to offer at some point down the road, Taylor said it’s a school he’d “definitely” want to take an official to. He’s already planning on taking official visits to Yale, Louisville and West Virginia.
“I’m just trying to find the balance between academics and athletics,” he said.
“The Ivys are more on the academic side, but they still offer good athletics too. (Schools like Louisville and West Virginia) are more on the athletic side, but still offer good academics. I’m just trying to find what fits me the best.”
