Notre Dame Sticks At #3
Saturday’s big Notre Dame-Miami showdown just got a little bit bigger with the release of the latest College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday night.
The undefeated Hurricanes (8-0) moved up from 10th to 7th in new rankings while the Irish (8-1) held their spot at #3 behind Georgia and Alabama.
Saturday night’s primetime matchup in Miami Gardens between Notre Dame and Miami will essentially serve as an elimination game with the loser unlikely to find a path back to the top four while the victor will be in a strong spot to control its own destiny.
Clemson maintained its spot at #4 and Oklahoma kept pace at #5 and while TCU moved up from #8 to #6.
Wisconsin is now the highest-ranked Big Ten team at #8 with Ohio State and Penn State both losing on Saturday. The Buckeyes fell all of the way to #13 while the Nittany Lions dropped to #14.
#9 Washington and #10 Auburn round out the Top 10.
There are a couple other Top 10 matchups this weekend with #1 Alabama facing #10 Auburn and #5 Oklahoma and #6 TCU squaring off as well.
