There weren't many points in the game against Wake Forest where the Irish were in danger of losing. At some points it did feel like they weren't in control, though. That had everything to do with the performance by the defense.
Coming off what was possibly their best game of the season, the defense took a step back against Wake. Some of that credit goes to quarterback John Wolford and his teammates for how they played. But more of the blame goes to Mike Elko's defense.
