Irish Put Themselves In Position With Wilson

As we said earlier in the week, first-year Notre Dame linebackers coach Clark Lea formed a strong relationship with Payton Wilson‍ dating back to his days as Wake Forest’s linebacker coach.

That bond helped the Irish get Wilson on campus for an official visit this weekend, despite the 2018 North Carolina linebacker’s commitment to the in-state Tar Heels.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder was impressed with the trip to South Bend.

“It was great,” said Wilson.
