Bowen Gets Back To Notre Dame
Jase Bowen is plenty familiar with Notre Dame, but that didn’t stop the 2019 Ohio native from returning to South Bend last week for the Irish football team’s home finale against Navy.
“It was great,” said Bowen. “I had a good time. I got shown around again. Other than the weather, it was good.”
The 6-foot-1, 178-pounder from Toledo is already committed to Notre Dame as a baseball player, but is trying to see if he can earn a football scholarship as a safety for the Irish.
His last trip to Notre Dame was for the Georgia game back in September and got to see a bit more this time.
“We got to go upstairs this time and eat in their dining hall, which was pretty cool,” said Bowen. “We got to see the locker room again and the player questions were pretty cool too. Other than that, it was pretty much the same, which is still pretty cool to see.”
The player panel, which included players like Alohi Gilman and Aaron Banks, was one of the highlights.
“They said a typical day for them is workouts, classes and that they have a lot of help with academics,” he said. “It’s still hard. They said a lot of help is needed and gets them through. They talked about how hard they work, but they never go hungry and the living spaces are good. It was pretty informational.”
The Central Catholic High School standout continues to see interest in him pick up as a football prospect, but remains set on going to college in South Bend.
“There are some schools trying to get me to visit,” he said. “I actually picked up an offer not too long ago from Toledo. Cincinnati is pretty hard on me and Minnesota.
“But I’m still solid on coming to Notre Dame for baseball and seeing where football goes.”
