A week after meeting with Malik Langham‍ and extending an offer to the 2018 Alabama defensive end, Mike Elston was back in Huntsville, Ala., on Tuesday night.

The Notre Dame defensive line coach was at the Lee High School basketball team’s game to see the 6-foot-5, 255-pound Langham in action.

Langham will repay the recent visits this weekend, when he makes the trip out to South Bend for an official visit.

“I just want to see the campus and see them practice and see everything,” he said.

Langham, who was initially scheduled to take an official visit to Vanderbilt this weekend, also picked up an offer from Alabama earlier this week.

“It means a lot,” he said. “Growing up an in-state kid and always watching Alabama and Auburn play. It’s one of the major programs in college football.”

Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban extended the offer in person during an in-home visit.

“It’s a blessing for real,” Langham said of hosting Saban. “He doesn’t really come by unless he really wants you.”

He’s planning to take an official visit to Tuscaloosa next month and isn’t in a rush to make a commitment.

“I’m planning to make my decision on National Signing Day,” he said.

Langham is excited to see his recruitment explode since the end of the regular season.

“It’s a blessing. Most high school athletes don’t have this, so it’s a blessing first. It just shows hard work pays off.”
