Notre Dame LB Signee Jack Lamb: "It’s going to be a fun ride"
2018 Notre Dame linebacker signee Jack Lamb stood out physically during the first practice at the Under Armour All-America Game on Sunday afternoon.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder looked like he hadn’t missed a beat despite not putting on the pads in over a month.
“It was good to get back out there on the field,” Lamb told Irish Sports Daily. “It’s been a couple of weeks, so it was fun. There are a lot of guys that are really good. It wasn’t too bad either. There wasn’t a ton of running, so it was alright.”
The four-star prospect will look to get a final tune-up before starting his collegiate career at Notre Dame in January, and the competition in Orlando will provide a great opportunity to get used the speed he will see at the next level.
“I’m looking forward to having a great experience,” said Lamb. “It’s great to have a bunch of top players. I’m just going to have fun with it.”
The Great Oak (Calif.) standout joins fellow Notre Dame signee Houston Griffith, but Irish fans will have to wait a few more months to see both players on the field at the same time.
“Unfortunately, we got put on separate teams,” Lamb said. “We’ll try to talk a little bit and get to know each other better.”
Lamb will also have his recruiting hat on this week as one of Notre Dame’s top prospects is in town.
“I know I’m going to work on the big tackle, Nicholas Petit-Frere,” stated Lamb. “We have to get him on board. He’s a great player.”
While this week is about fun and competition, Lamb already has an eye towards what life will be like in South Bend.
“I can’t wait to get up there,” Lamb said. “It’s going to be a fun ride. I’ll be going in during a down time for football with them finishing the bowl game. I’m looking forward to getting into the weight room and starting spring ball.
“I will start off at Mike.”
