Freshman defensive end Jonathon MacCollister will transfer to UCF per an announcement on Twitter.
The Orlando native had not been with the team for a few weeks according to multiple sources and the 6-foot-4, 233-pounder didn't practice or travel to the Citrus Bowl with the team.
MacCollister did not play this fall as a true freshman and had been working at strongside defensive end.
The former three-star prospect chose the Irish over Auburn, Clemson, Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, UCLA, Virginia Tech and many others.
He will join former high school teammate Parker Boudreaux at UCF.
