Jayson Ademilola Impressed, Excited With Notre Dame's Class
After an impressive performance at The Opening Finals in Oregon this past summer, Jayson Ademilola is hoping to add another one this week at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
“Everything is going straight,” the 2018 Notre Dame defensive tackle signee told Irish Sports Daily from Texas this week. “It’s a blessing to participate in the event and compete with the best.”
The New Jersey native’s goal for the week is simple.
“I just really want to prove I can compete with the best and get better,” he said.
Having done so at Nike World Headquarters during the summer, Ademilola knows he can.
“It’s just the confidence factor for me,” he said of how his performance at The Opening can help him at the Army Bowl.
“I’m just getting used to the game speed playing with these big guys out here. Hopefully, it’ll be an easy adjustment when I go to South Bend next year.”
He’s also looking to improve during the event.
“Just coaching, learning from the best, seeing what the offensive line does and bringing that to the next level,” said Ademilola.
The Irish have a strong contingent of commits in Texas for the game.
“We’re having a great time,” Ademilola said of the group, which also consists of his St. Peter’s Prep teammate Shayne Simon, Phil Jurkovec, George Takacs and Derrik Allen.
“I’m rooming with Shayne, chilling with Phil. We’re just bonding, chilling and having fun.”
Ademilola is impressed with the 21 signees and one verbal commit (Arkansas offensive lineman Luke Jones) Notre Dame has in the Class of 2018 and is confident in what they’ll accomplish while in South Bend.
“Our class is great,” he said. “It’s a great group of guys.
“I’m happy to have them in the locker room and I can call them my teammates for the next four years. They’re great kids and I can’t wait to compete and get better with this group of guys.”
