2018 WR Lawrence Keys III and Family Set for Notre Dame Official Visit

Notre Dame continues to look for one more receiver in the 2018 class, and they have zeroed in on McDonogh 35 (La.) standout Lawrence Keys III‍. 

Irish receivers coach Del Alexander made his way to New Orleans on Monday night to see 5-foot-11, 170-pounder and his mother, LaTanya Manning. 

“It went well,” Manning told Irish Sports Daily. “We just discussed the itinerary for the visit this weekend. Coach Alexander told us a few things to look out for while we were on the visit.”

Manning said everything they wanted to see and experience was on the itinerary, including an iconic stop on the Notre Dame campus. 

“You know I asked about seeing the Basilica,” laughed Manning. “Everything we wanted to see was on there.” 

The visit from Alexander meant a lot of the family, as he didn’t have to make the trip to New Orleans with Keys set to be on campus in a few days. 

“It was good to see coach Alexander again,” stated Manning. “I didn’t think he was going to come this week because the visit is this weekend. 

"He said coach (Brian) Kelly is supposed to be coming next week on either Wednesday or Thursday of next week.” 

Academics will be a significant part of the visit for Keys and his mother. 

“I’m looking forward to meeting with the academic advisors when we get up to Indiana,” Manning said.” 

When it comes to recruiting, SMU is a program that is making a late run and Keys is starting to get a few more calls as National Signing Day approaches. 

“SMU came by and visited Lawrence at his school,” explained Manning. “It’s starting to pick up and be busy. I know he’s getting a lot of phone calls."

Notre Dame has done all it can do to this point and this weekend’s official visit could set the bar for Keys and his mother. 

“I’m looking forward to getting all of my questions answered and the things I am unclear about getting answered on this official visit,” said Manning.
