Notre Dame Trending Up For 2019 Four-Star ATH Kyren Williams

It was a big week for 2019 St. Vianney (Mo.) star Kyren Williams‍. The four-star prospect earned an offer from Notre Dame early in the week and capped it off with a visit to South Bend on Saturday.

“It was fun,” Williams told Irish Sports Daily. “They took my weight and height before we heard the coaches and coach (Brian) Kelly talk. We went to the weight room and saw a weight presentation. After that weight room, we toured the campus and saw all the great statues, monuments, the Golden Dome and saw some of the paintings around campus.

“We went to the stadium for a photo shoot, and see the locker room. I got to speak with coach Kelly one-on-one too.”

The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder attended Irish Invasion in June, but the locker room was going through a big renovation, and Williams wasn’t disappointed with what he saw this weekend.

“It was one of the coolest locker rooms I’ve seen,” stated Williams. “It was pretty sweet.”

The one-on-one meeting with Kelly was a highlight as the head coach made sure Williams and his family knew he was a fit for the Irish program.

“He was telling my family and me about the tradition of Notre Dame and how I would fit into the program as an athlete and student,” explained Williams. “He said I would be a good fit for the program too.”

When Notre Dame offered Williams, the staff advised him they didn’t know exactly what position he projected at, but they wanted his talents in South Bend.

On Saturday, the picture became more evident as Williams spent the entire day with running backs coach Autry Denson.

“I was with coach Denson the whole time,” Williams said. “They see me as a scat running back where I can come out of the backfield. Coach Denson is a great coach and a person. I could definitely see myself playing for him.”

Williams and his family have put a significant emphasis on academics, but seeing the opportunities off the field at Notre Dame didn’t shock the St. Louis native.

“It was everything I thought it would be,” stated Williams. “I liked it. The academics are at the top of the game and the best in the country. I knew it coming in, so it wasn’t a big surprise to me.”

The Irish were on high Williams list entering the visit, and he admitted Notre Dame is trending up on his list as well as a decision date.

“They definitely moved up,” said Williams. “I plan on taking an official visit this spring. My first official will be to Notre Dame.”

“I did change my commitment date. I think I'm trying to commit before the season instead of after.”
