BREAKING: 2019 Four-Star CB KJ Wallace Headed To Notre Dame
Notre Dame hosted several top prospects from all over the country on Saturday and 2019 Lovett (Ga.) cornerback KJ Wallace wasted no time committing to the Irish.
The four-star prospect has given a pledge to the Irish and the 5-foot-11, 180-pounder is the first cornerback in the recruiting class and third overall in 2019. Wallace joins 2019 quarterback Cade McNamara and defensive tackle Jacob Lacey in the class nicknamed #FightClub19.
Notre Dame cornerbacks coach was instrumental in landing an early commitment from Wallace and the two really connected on the visit.
"Coach Lyght, I’ve talked to him multiple times now, but he was telling about what it was like in the program," explained Wallace. "He was talking about the opportunity to play early. They were telling about the academics and football being the best in the country.”
As much as Wallace enjoyed speaking Lyght and head coach Brian Kelly, it was the academic presentation that sold him on Notre Dame.
"The guy kept it real," stated Wallace. "He was talking about how if you don’t get your education, you’re basically getting exploited. I really like how they gave the message.”
Life at Notre Dame also intrigued Wallace and the new Duncan Center seemed like a hit.
"The whole campus was nice," said Wallace. "I can’t really pinpoint anything I liked more than the other. The Basilica was nice. The faciltiies, the locker rooms and the Duncan Center were really nice.”
Wallace chose Notre Dame over the likes of Auburn, Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Penn State, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wisconsin.
One thing to keep an eye on moving forward, Wallace and 2019 Grayson (Ga.) defensive back Kenyatta Watson II are good friends and it wouldn't shock anyone if Notre Dame led for Watson coming out of Junior Day.
The Georgia native expects to be back in South Bend for the Blue-Gold Game.
