BREAKING: Luke Jones "I'm 100% With Notre Dame"
21 of Notre Dame’s 22 verbal commitments have officially signed National Letters of Intent with the Irish.
Luke Jones is the only pledge who hasn’t signed and that’s only because the 2018 Arkansas offensive lineman didn’t commit to the Irish until Dec. 27, after the early signing period closed.
But that made some Irish fans anxious, especially after offensive line coach Harry Hiestand left to take the same job for the Chicago Bears earlier this month.
But Jones tells Irish Sports Daily that he’s 100 percent committed to Notre Dame and will be signing with the Irish on National Signing Day, Feb. 7th.
“The main thing that makes me so sure Notre Dame is the place for me is the people,” the Little Rock native said. “When I went on my official visit, I felt like I fit in better with the people on the team more than other schools.
“Also, people want to attend Notre Dame because it has one of the best educations in the world and for me to get that education while playing the game I love is pretty awesome.”
Jones has met new offensive line coach Jeff Quinn and feels comfortable playing for him.
“I like Coach Quinn,” he said. “I think he's going to be a great fit as the offensive line coach.”
Jones, who was committed to Arkansas prior to Notre Dame, is relieved to have the process behind him.
“It feels great,” he said. “It's been a long process and I'm glad to have found my home for the next four years!”
The Irish are already after the next star at Pulaski Academy, 2019 tight Hudson Henry, who was in South Bend for Notre Dame’s Junior Day this past weekend.
“I'm on him for Notre Dame,” said Jones. “I'd love to get him up here and I've told him time and time again how awesome ND is and how great he'd fit in there, but I'm supportive of him where ever he ends up!”
