2019 IN WR Eli Pancol Enjoys Notre Dame Visit, Hopes To Return
Eli Pancol made his first unofficial visit to Notre Dame for the Irish’s Junior Day on Saturday and the 2019 Indiana receiver left impressed.
“It was awesome,” the 6-foot-3, 185-pounder from Pendleton, Ind., said. “I had a great time at Notre Dame.
“I’ve never really been on campus. It was mind-blowing. Everything looked so amazing. I thought all of the architecture and buildings were fascinating. Getting a tour around the facilities was really cool. There’s a lot of smart people on campus. Getting to meet all of the coaches was awesome. I never got to meet the wide receiver coach or talk to the head coach before today, so it was cool to start building those relationships.”
Pancol certainly enjoyed his meeting with wide receivers coach Del Alexander.
“It was really good,” he said. “It was a lot of teaching. He taught us a lot of things about being at the elite level and what we need to do. I just took a lot of it in. I’m going to start doing those things right now to make me better.”
The meeting with Brian Kelly was brief, but still meaningful.
“We only talked with him for a little bit at the end,” said Pancol. “He was real nice, just thanking us for coming and getting to me him and putting a face to the name.”
The Pendleton Heights standout has offers from schools like Purdue, Indiana, Louisville, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt and Duke among others.
“I’m going to stand in contact with Coach Alexander for now,” he said. “He said we’re going to start talking on an everyday basis kind of thing. He’s going to come see me perform as soon as possible and go from there.”
Pancol, who is interested in studying Law, is pretty sure he’ll return to South Bend in the future and wants to see more.
“I feel like we did a lot more academic than football stuff,” he explained. “I kind of want to see more of what like football is like there. I got a good feel of the academics. I know exactly how it’s going to be. I just want to get more of the college feel and get to see campus some more.”
He has one other trip coming up.
“Next weekend, I’m going to be going to Northwestern.”
