2019 Lineman Jarod DePriest Checks Out Notre Dame

Jarod DePriest‍ has a handful of smaller offers already, including a pair from Ivy League schools, but he’s more opportunities could be on his way, which is why the 2019 Illinois lineman was at Notre Dame’s Junior Day on Saturday.

“It was awesome,” the 6-foot-4, 270-pounder said. “I had a great experience. It went well.”

DePriest pointed to the hospitality, the staff, the coaches and his meetings with those coaches.

“It was just great,” he added. “It was a great atmosphere.

“I toured the field, the campus, locker room, did a photo shoot. We saw quite a bit of the campus. The campus is beautiful. It was awesome, the best of the best.”

The Farmington, Ill., native has offers from Columbia, Cornell, Illinois State, South Dakota State and Eastern Kentucky. Most of those schools are recruiting him as a defensive lineman while schools like Iowa and Illinois are looking at him as an offensive lineman as is Notre Dame.

“I probably like defensive line better, but I wouldn’t mind playing o-line for a bigger school,” DePriest acknowledged.

He had the chance to speak with Irish offensive line coach Jeff Quinn while in South Bend.

“They said they’d like to get me down there again hopefully,” said DePriest, who said he would be back “for sure.”

His initial impressions of Quinn are positive.

“Great guy from what I’ve seen,” the Farmington Central standout said. “He’s had a good past with coaching and has carried it on to Notre Dame. Him and Coach Kelly have done an amazing job wherever they’ve gone. It would cool to play for those guys.”

If Notre Dame ever does extend an offer to DePriest, its academics could play the biggest role.

“I know it’s pretty good there too” he said. “I know if I were to get an offer and choose there, I’d be going to the right academic place too.”

DePriest is off to visit Iowa on Sunday.

“I’ve got a busy weekend.”
