Irish Signees Win Gatorade Player of the Year Awards
2018 Notre Dame signees Dane Goodwin and Robby Carmody were named Ohio Boys’ Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year and Pennsylvania Boys’ Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year respectively on Thursday morning.
Goodwin, from Upper Arlington, is averaging 24.2 points and 9.9 rebounds per game this season and was also named OCC Player of the Year in the Central Division.
Goodwin scored 20-plus points 16 times, including a 40-point game against Raytown South (Mo.) in the 2017 Machens Great 8 Holiday Classic. The 6-foot-4 guard also pulled down a season-high 16 rebounds against Dublin Coffman where he hit a three at the buzzer for the win.
For his career, Goodwin has 1,942 points, 818 rebounds, 186 assists and shot 41 percent from three-point range.
Upper Arlington will play for a District Championship on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Ohio Dominican University
Carmody is averaging 32.2 points and 14.2 rebounds in his final season for Mars, which is just getting started with its state playoff run.
