Elite 2020 DE Jacolbe Cowan Impressed By Notre Dame

2020 Providence Day (N.C.) defensive end Jacolbe Cowan‍ spent his Spring Break traveling all over the Midwest as he visited Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and Tennessee over the last few days. 

The 6-foot-5, 250-pounder stopped at Notre Dame on Monday, and things went well for Cowan and his mother.

“My experience at Notre Dame was great,” Cowan told Irish Sports Daily. “I would have to say the visit exceeded my expectations.” 

The four-star prospect was Notre Dame’s first offer in the 2020 class, and Cowan got first-class treatment from the staff. 

“Getting a chance to sit down with Coach (Brian) Kelly and Coach (Mike) Elston was great,” stated Cowan. “I was able to talk with them about football, academics, and the tradition of Notre Dame football.

"The message to me was to continue to work hard and keep doing the things I’m doing.” 

As you read earlier this week, Cowan’s mother wanted to see the academics at each school, and Notre Dame hit home with the Cowan family. 

“Notre Dame is a prestigious university," said Cowan. "Being able to see the actual numbers and success academically was impressive."

It was hard not to be impressed on his Midwest swing as Cowan visited some of the Midwest’s finest and enjoyed each moment. 

“There was a lot that stood out at each school,” Cowan said. “Whether it was through the academics or the way that they do things in the football program.

“Most of the schools are similar in some aspects.” 

One of the highlights of the trip was getting to tour Notre Dame Stadium. Cowan was also impressed with what greeted him as he walked into the stadium.

“Getting to see the stadium was definitely a sight to see,” stated Cowan. “Knute Rockne is a legend and being to see his statue right before I walked in was amazing.” 

Cowan will be back to South Bend, and it could be for a game this fall. 

“I’d like to get back in the fall for a game,” said Cowan. “I want to experience the game day atmosphere.”
