Notre Dame receivers coach Del Alexander made an impression on 2020 Bishop Miege (Kans.) receiver Daniel Jackson over the summer at a camp.

On Saturday, Alexander delivered the 6-foot 175-pounder some good news at the end of his visit.

“Coach Alexander offered me today when I was in a meeting in his office,” Jackson told Irish Sports Daily. “He told me to keep working and keep getting better. Coach (Tom) Rees was in the room too.”

Iowa State, Kansas and Missouri had offered the three-star prospect earlier, but the offer from the Irish caught Jackson off guard.

“It surprised me to get an offer this early,” said Jackson. “They haven’t offered many 2020 guys. Notre Dame is such a prestigious school and for them to offer me is a blessing.”

Jackson got to observe Saturday’s practice and came away impressed with how the Irish went to work.

“The practice was very intense,” explained Jackson. “They take a lot of shots downfield, which was nice to see. They have a lot of playmakers on their team, so it was fun to watch.”

The Bishop Miege star also got to sit in on morning meetings and enjoyed seeing Alexander’s coaching style up close.

“I was in position meetings on Saturday morning, Jackson said. “I was witnessing Coach Alexander coach. He was pushing his guy to step it up a notch and try extra hard on third-down and to push past their expectations.”

Notre Dame made sure to show Jackson all the sights and sounds of the program following practice.

“They had a presentation for all the recruits,” stated Jackson. “We ate lunch and then met with the coaches. We took a tour of the campus and did a photoshoot. It was a cool visit.

"Touchdown Jesus was really nice. The locker room was really cool with all the new stuff, and the original Play Like A Champion sign was nice.”

Jackson also had the chance to catch up with his cousin, Jafar Armstrong.

“We got to talk a little bit,” said Jackson. “We both were busy, but I’m going to meet up with him soon. I watched him with the running backs. He looked pretty good out there.”
