Running back Josh Adams is staying home as he has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles following the 2018 NFL Draft.

The Eagles currently have running backs Jay Ajayi, Corey Clement, Donnel Pumphrey and Wendell Smallwood on the roster. Philadelphia did resign Darren Sproles following the draft.

Adams rushed for 3,198 yards and 20 touchdowns in his Notre Dame career, including 1,430 yards in 2017, which was just seven yards short of Vagas Ferguson’s single-single record at Notre Dame.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder put up big numbers at Notre Dame’s Pro Day as he ran a 4.48 40-yard dash and that would have been the fifth fastest running back at the NFL Combine where Adams didn’t run due to injury.

At Pro Day, Adams also put a time of 6.75 seconds in the three-cone drill, which would have been the top time for running backs at the Combine. His 11.31-second 60-yard shuttle would have finished No. 2 at the Combine.

Adams grabbed the hearts almost as soon as he stepped on campus as his first carry went for a 25-yard touchdown against Texas. Later in his freshman season, Adams ripped off a 98-yard touchdown run against Wake Forest, which was the longest play from scrimmage in program history. Adams also broke the Notre Dame freshman rushing record with 838 yards.

As a sophomore in 2016, Adams rushed for 933 yards and five touchdowns.
