LB Nyles Morgan Signs With The Chicago Bears
Nyles Morgan has always played with a chip on his shoulder, but that chip has grown in the last few months as he didn’t get an invite to the NFL Combine and now as he went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft.
The Crete (Ill.) native will sign with the hometown Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent.
Morgan finished his senior season at Notre Dame with 91 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Following the season, Morgan did have labrum surgery in January and will likely be ready for mini-camp in June, but he wasn’t able to bench press for Notre Dame’s Pro Day in March.
Before his senior season at Notre Dame, Morgan was named to the Nagurski Award Watch List, Bednarik Award Watch List, Butkus Award Watch List and selected as a captain.
In his first two seasons at Notre Dame, Morgan played in 25 games and recorded 64 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss playing behind Joe Schmidt.
As junior, Morgan started 12 games and led the Irish in tackles with 94, including a career-best 13 tackle performance against Texas. Morgan also achieved double-digit tackles against Michigan State, Duke, Syracuse and Navy in 2016.
