2020 OL Walker Parks Talks Notre Dame, Upcoming Visit
Walker Parks made a quick stop at Notre Dame back in March and the 2020 Kentucky offensive lineman will be back again soon.
But prior to him returning to South Bend, Irish assistant coach Mike Elston was at Lexington Christian Academy on Tuesday.
“He was up in the office talking to my head coach,” Parks said of Elston. “He was just seeing how I was doing, talking about camps and making sure everything was going alright.
“He was just seeing if I had any questions.”
Elston also wanted to encourage Parks to continue building a relationship with Irish offensive line coach Jeff Quinn and to get back to Notre Dame soon.
Check and check.
“I met with Coach Quinn at Notre Dame and he came to school a couple weeks ago,” Parks said.
“I’ve got a pretty good relationship going with him. I like him a lot. He’s a good guy and I’m looking forward to seeing how he coaches at Notre Dame with this being his beginning year, but so far I like him a lot.”
And the 6-foot-5, 245-pounder already has a date picked out for his return to South Bend.
“I am going June 23rd for the Lineman’s Challenge,” he said.
Parks is looking forward to getting a better feel for the school and the program.
“Mostly, seeing how the coach works with the players and everything and seeing Coach Quinn’s technique in coaching and seeing how the whole team reacts,” he said.
“Seeing if there’s a good relationship between coaches and players and a good relationship between players. Just seeing how everything pieces together.”
Parks currently has offers from schools like Kentucky, Louisville, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, Northwestern and Purdue among others. Notre Dame is definitely an option he’d love to add.
“Like I said, the relationship with Coach Quinn,” Parks said of what he likes about Notre Dame. “I think he’s a really good guy and I can’t wait to see what he does. That’s huge.
“Notre Dame has always been a prestigious school, so that’s a good thing academically. Just the history of the school and the football program and how they take care of the offensive linemen, I think that would be a good place all around.”
Parks will hit some other camps this summer, but doesn’t have any other college visits locked in yet.
“If I get a call from a school I’m interested in, I’ll go from there, but I don’t have anything planned.”
