The NFL Top 100 is an annual list that features the top one hundred players in the National Football League, as chosen by fellow NFL players. It's a chance for the players to vote on the top players, which holds some substance because they face each other each week.

Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith checks in at No. 46 as he racked up 93 tackles (coaches tally), 10 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, 14 passes defended and five interceptions, which tied a career-high.

Smith drew high praise from his own teammates, including cornerback Xavier Rhodes.

“Harrison, that’s the heart and soul of this defense,” Rhodes told NFL Network. “I’m telling you - pay attention and you watch our team, our defense out there, Harrison is the guy.”

Rhodes continued.

“They call him ‘Hitman’ for a reason,” Rhodes said. “Getting off blocks like he’s a defensive lineman. Blitzing the gap, running through like he’s a linebacker.”

Former Vikings quarterback Case Keenum also had high praise for the three-time Pro Bowler.

“He can make plays on ball carriers," Keenum stated. "He can make plays on the ball. He’s great rushing the passer. As a quarterback who’s played against this defense, you’ve got to know where he’s at, at all times.

“He’s one of the best-disguised safeties I’ve ever played against.”

Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Hundley threw an interception to Smith in week six, but was also sacked by him 1.5 times in the game. Hundley admitted Smith is a player quarterbacks have to account for on every play.

“All sorts of red lights in a quarterback’s head go off when you see him down in the box, because he could drop out, he could blitz,” said Hundley. “He’s a ball hawk. He’s flying around, hitting people. I’ve seen him back there a couple times, unfortunately.”

Smith was the No. 74 player in last year's NFL Top 100.
