2020 Arizona WR Works Out At Notre Dame
Several schools saw enough from Tommy Christakos to offer the Arizona receiver after his freshman year.
Notre Dame got a chance to see what the 2020 prospect could do this past weekend, when he participated in the Irish’s Elite Skills Camp on Saturday.
“It went well,” the 6-foot-4, 192-pounder said. “I think I did pretty good myself.”
Christakos was encouraged to be invited to the event.
“It’s good that they know who I am and that they were interested somewhat, if they want you to come out to a camp, obviously they’re interested,” he said.
The Scottsdale, Ariz., native also had a chance to catch up with Notre Dame receivers coach Del Alexander.
“I talked to Coach Alexander for a minute,” Christakos said. “He liked what he saw and he said he’s really excited to keep recruiting me.
“Hopefully we just stay in contact. I know on Sept. 1st, they’re allowed to hit me up first before I text them. I’m excited to see what interest they show come that time. Then, I guess we’ll just go from there.”
The Chaparral High School standout had an opportunity to look around while in South Bend.
“Me and my dad drove around the campus for a bit and explored by ourselves,” he explained. “It’s magical. That place is beautiful; just the scenery and all of the buildings look amazing.”
Christakos landed all five of his offers – from Arizona, Arizona State, Memphis, Northern Arizona and Southern Utah – when he was a freshman.
“It was all surreal in the beginning,” he acknowledged. “As I started realizing getting offers as a freshman isn’t a normal thing, you kind of have this chip on your shoulder, but you have to be humble at the same time.
“They like my size and what I could potentially grow into. They like my catch radius and how big of a player I play as, going up to jump over people, get the ball at the highest point and just being a deep threat.”
Christakos camped at Northwestern on Sunday while still in the Midwest and will go to Cal in a couple weeks.
