2019 San Ramon Valley (Calif.) linebacker Tristan Sinclair‍ got a good look at Notre Dame in April on an unofficial visit, but the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder wanted a closer look this weekend.

The three-star prospect was back in South Bend for an official visit and left Notre Dame on Monday morning feeling good about what he experienced.

“The trip was different because I really got to spend a lot of time with the players and coaches,” Sinclair told Irish Sports Daily. “I had seen the campus, so I didn’t really need to go on tours or anything.”

Sinclair had told Irish Sports Daily before the visit about the importance of meshing with the team, but Notre Dame raised the bar as he got to have lunch with captain Sam Mustipher.

“The highlight for me was eating lunch in the box in the stadium,” stated Sinclair. “I had lunch with Sam and all the coaches.

“Sam was a really nice guy, and it was cool to talk about football, engineering, and everything.”

Mustipher was one of many current players Sinclair met with when it came to interaction with players on the team. Sinclair was the only official visitor this weekend, but many of the players made time out of their weekend to spend time with the California native.

“I spent most of my time with Bo Bauer, Jack Lamb, Ovie Oghoufo, George Takacs, Shayne Simon and Sam,” said Sinclair “It was really cool getting to know all of them.

“All of the players are great people and fun to be around.”

On Sunday, the official visit moved to Brian Kelly’s lake house as Sinclair and his family got quality time around the staff and the players.

“Coach Kelly’s lake house was super cool,” Sinclair said. “We got a chance to go out and water ski. It was a great time.”

Sinclair got an idea of how he would be used in the defense on his previous trip, and the staff made sure he left South Bend knowing how much they wanted him.

“The message of the staff was to emphasize how important I am to them,” explained Sinclair. “They not only want me to be part of the team but the culture of Notre Dame.”
