2021 WR Cristian Dixon Sets Notre Dame Visit
2021 Diamond Ranch (Calif.) receiver Cristian Dixon is quickly becoming a name to watch on the West Coast. The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder had a big spring, and several programs have taken notice.
Nevada and USC have already extended offers, and Dixon will be in South Bend in September to see Notre Dame take on Stanford.
“They are recruiting me hard and its a school I’m definitely interested in seeing,” Dixon told Irish Sports Daily. “Notre Dame came to my school this spring to meet with some of my coaches. Coach (Del) Alexander said he liked my frame, body and he was going to recruit me hard.”
Early exposure is a good thing, but Dixon isn’t letting it get to his head.
“I was very shocked,” Dixon said of his offer from USC. “I was excited. I was shocked just because it came so soon.
“It’s exciting. I’m looking forward to the future. I’m just very grateful.”
While the USC offer was a significant one, the Pomona native has had his eye on the two programs he will watch in South Bend.
“Stanford is one of the schools my mom wants me to go to because of the education and football background,” explained Dixon. “It’s a great school and a great environment to be around.
“Notre Dame has been a school my cousin has followed. He put me on to football, and they have been one of my favorite schools.”
Dixon has already taken visits to Stanford, USC and Washington, but he’s looking forward to seeing what Notre Dame has to offer as he educates himself about each school.
“The coaching staff will be a big part,” stated Dixon. “I want to have a family environment and know the coaches have your back. Education is important because it can take you a long way after football is done.
“I just want a school that’s well rounded and fits me.”
On the field, Dixon is looking forward to having a big sophomore season, and his game starts with making game-changing plays.
“I feel I am good at getting open and making big-time plays in big-time situations,” Dixon said. “I’m working on catching in traffic and squeezing the ball through when the defender tries to break up the pass.”
Dixon also has some lofty goals for 2018, and if he achieves them, I would suspect those two offers turn into 20 pretty quick.
“I want to reach 1,000 receiving yards, 10 touchdowns and get a 4.0 GPA,” said Dixon.
