In hindsight it’s now clear that Charlie Weis was not meant to be a winner at Notre Dame, but I’ll always remember the way he injected hope into a program that was in dire need of it. His first two years had enough magic to make someone believe that things were heading in the right direction and he really knew how to recruit.

His first three full classes were ranked 5th, 6th, and 2nd in the nation.
