2020 WR Jaden Dottin Has Big-Time Offers & Interest From Irish
Notre Dame invited Jaden Dottin to a camp this summer, but the 2020 wide receiver couldn’t make it.
Still, the 6-foot-3, 185-pounder from Suffield Academy in Suffield, Conn., says he wants to get to South Bend at some point in the future.
“Definitely,” he says. “It’s a very prestigious school.”
Dottin is familiar with one of the Irish’s 2020 pledges.
“I know Drew Pyne, who is actually committed to Notre Dame,” he says. “I’ve been on a couple teams with him. He’s a cool kid, I really like him. Obviously, he can play. He’s doing a good job of keeping me informed. Who wouldn’t want to go to Notre Dame of course?”
He’s hoping the communication with Notre Dame picks up once contact restrictions for the Class of 2020 are eased.
“They’ve been contacting me through my school,” he explains. “I’m probably going to hear more from them after Sept. 1st when they can contact me directly.”
Dottin already holds several offers, including some from major Power Five programs.
“My bigger ones are Penn State, Michigan, Duke, Boston College, UConn, Toledo and UMass,” he says. “It’s definitely humbling.”
He grew up following the Big Ten and is honored to have offers from two of the conference’s biggest schools.
“They like my fluency with my movement,” he says of college scouts. “I’m a pretty fast kid for my size and things like that. I have a big frame. I have a big catch radius, I run routes. A lot of schools have also said I’m a physical receiver. I like to block and things like that, I take those things very seriously.”
He’s hit the road a bit recently.
“I’ve been to Penn State, that was my most recent visit,” he says. “Before that, it was Ohio State and before that Duke. That’s all I’ve been to this year.
“Those schools are definitely different, especially Duke because they’re in the ACC. The atmosphere and being there is definitely cool. Not a lot of people get to do what me and other players like myself are able to do. To be able to see these amazing schools, it’s definitely something I have always wanted to do growing up since playing Pop Warner. To actually be here now and doing what I love to do in football, it’s very cool. I’m looking to continue it for as long as I can for sure.”
He’s got his eye on some future visits as well.
“I’m probably going to go to Penn State and Ohio State again within the next few months,” he says. “I’m most likely going to go to Michigan in the spring and if I can, I’ll make it out to Notre Dame. I’ve always wanted to go out there at some point. I’ll probably go down south. I think I’m going to go to Florida next spring as well.”
He’ll be looking at each school’s coaching staff as closely as anything as he goes through the process.
“I want to be able to go to them for anything, not just football-wise. When it comes to class, family things, off the field, anything like that. I want to feel comfortable. I am there to play football, but I’m also there for four years of my life and those are very important years. I want to make sure I can go to them for anything. That’s definitely going to be a big part of my decision.”
