Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen‍ made it down to South Bend this past weekend to get a look at Notre Dame and now, the Irish will be watching the 2020 Michigan wide receiver.

“It was pretty good,” the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder said of his visit for Saturday night’s Notre Dame-Michigan game. “The fans down there were crazy. It was real exciting and I think they did pretty good handling Michigan too.

“They had the recruits in a big tent where they had video games and food. We got to meet with the coaches for a minute and just sit down and relax really. They had really good food there by the way. The atmosphere was really nice. They were really fired up. Everybody was wearing green. It was really cool to see.”

The Walled Lake Western High School standout has more than a dozen scholarship offers already and had a chance to speak with some Notre Dame assistants while in town.

“They said they’re looking at me,” Yaseen said. “They want me to show them my first six games this season. They said they’re not really offering a lot of 20s right now. They’re still kind of focused on ’19.”

Yaseen, who added, “The campus is really nice,” is open to getting back to South Bend in the future.

“Definitely,” he said.

The Walled Lake, Mich., native’s offer sheet currently includes schools like Boston College, Purdue, Minnesota, Iowa, Iowa State, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland and Rutgers among others.

“It’s definitely a blessing,” he said of his 19 early offers. “It definitely puts a target on your head. A lot of guys want to go against you and try to beat you. I’m already getting double-teamed during the season and we just started.”

Yaseen said college coaches likes how he creates separation, his hands and his footwork. Despite the extra attention, Yaseen caught eight passes for 156 yards in his season-opener.

Some programs already have his attention.

“There are a few schools that have been showing love,” he explained. “I went down to Purdue. I’ve been to Indiana. There are a couple others, I’ve just got to get down to them.”

He doesn’t have any other visits set up just yet.

“I’m not really sure right now, but whoever needs me or wants me to come down, I’ll probably end up coming down,” he said.

Yaseen has identified a few key factors in his ultimate decision.

“Just the fit. They have to have a good atmosphere, a good coaching staff, good school altogether.”
