The change on offense versus Wake Forest grabbed all the attention, but what Clark Lea’s defense did deserves just as much credit. Wake’s offense was held to their lowest number of yards per play (4.3) since back in the 2016 season. The biggest reason behind it was the game plan from Lea.

A lot of what Wake does is based off of run-pass option plays (RPOs). The quarterback needs to make the read of whether to give to the back, keep and run it himself, or throw the football.
