2020 OL Deondre Buford Recaps "Cool" Notre Dame Visit
It was a quick visit, but it was a very good start for Notre Dame with Deondre Buford.
“Everything was cool,” the 2020 Michigan offensive lineman said of his trip to South Bend for the Irish’s game against Stanford.
The 6-foot-4, 260-pounder didn’t see everything, but he did see a lot.
“I got to see the locker room and we went a few places on campus when I first arrived,” Buford explained.
The Martin Luther King High School standout was impressed by the Irish’s 38-17 victory over the Cardinal.
“The game was good,” he said. “The atmosphere was good. The crowd was into it. It was cool.”
“They played good too. I liked the o-line, the o-line did good on pass protection and run blocking.”
Buford didn’t get to speak with many coaches beyond introductions, but still was liked was impressed enough to want to return.
“I liked it,” he said. “I liked it a lot.”
He said he’d “just want to see more of the campus” if he had the chance to return.
The Detroit native already has offers from schools like Iowa, Iowa State, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Syracuse.
“It’s surprising to me,” he said of the early offers. “I didn’t really think it was going to happen like that.”
Buford said he thinks his “athleticism” is what has allowed him to attract so much early attention.
Many of the factors that he expects to play major roles in his decision could ultimately work in Notre Dame’s favor.
“The education, class sizes, how far it is, how well the program develops guys at my position.”
