No. 4 Notre Dame moved to 9-0 by getting a gritty 31-21 win over a pesky Northwestern team on a cold and rainy Saturday night in Evanston (Ill.).

The Irish started slow with a fumble by quarterback Ian Book on an exchange with running back Dexter Williams on the first drive, but Notre Dame did what they have done all year and responded.
