In terms of raw talent, Florida State’s defense is surpassed only by Michigan out of the opponents Notre Dame has faced this season. Statistically this was considered a good defense coming in as well.

There were plenty of reasons to believe that FSU could make a game out of this because of this side of the ball. That didn’t happen despite FSU coming up with two turnovers.

Despite not having Ian Book. the Irish still were able to find success on offense.
