Notre Dame basketball suffered another tough break on Friday as freshman guard Robby Carmody announced will have season-ending surgery in a statement:
“I believe God has a plan. That plan includes having season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in my shoulder and redshirting this year. I want to thank all my coaches, teammates, training staff and family for all their support. This is a minor setback for a major comeback! Looking forward to supporting my brothers as we #RiseTogether. Go Irish.”
In nine games, Carmody was averaging 3.7 points and 1.7 rebounds a game in 2018.
A University source stated Carmody’s surgery will be in the coming weeks and will maintain four years of eligibility.
