Recruitment Rundown
The Illinois native took an extremely low-key approach to the recruiting process, but it was always clear Notre Dame was near or at the top of his list. It was also obvious that the Irish coveted Abdur-Rahman for his playmaking ability and made him a priority. He took an official visit to South Bend the second week of September and announced his commitment immediately afterward. Abdur-Rahman also had offers form schools like Michigan State, Northwestern and Missouri among several others. He pointed to Notre Dame’s offensive system as well as the academics as the chief reasons.

He’s been asked to carry a heavy load as the quarterback for Edwardsville, but he’s likely going to end up at receiver for the Irish. There’s a lot he shows as a runner on film to suggest he can develop into an impact player there. I saw that with him as a junior and again with what he did as a senior.
There is more unknown with Abdur-Rahman than there is with most others who the Irish will sign. In addition to playing a different position than the one he’ll play in college, he didn’t go to camps and doesn’t speak to the media. All I know is what he has showed on the field as a junior and senior. From that I believe he has a high ceiling and that’s why I have him graded higher than everywhere else. He could very well end up being one of the best players in the class after all is said and done.
