Notre Dame WR Miles Boykin Declares For The 2019 NFL Draft

January 6, 2019

Notre Dame receiver Miles Boykin will forgo a fifth year at Notre Dame and enter the 2019 NFL Draft.

Boykin released a statement on Social Media on Sunday afternoon:

“First and foremost, I want to thank the University of Notre Dame for giving me the chance to grow as a person, whether that was on the field, in the classroom or in the community. Notre Dame will always hold a special place in my heart because of the memories, both good and bad, that I’ve experienced. I’m forever changed for the better.

“To my teammates and coaches, I’d never be in this position without the continuous support you’ve shown me over my career. I’ll truly miss all of you and I want to thank you all for believing in me.

“With that said, I’ve decided that, after receiving my degree in May fro the greatest University in the world, I’ll forgo my final season of eligibility and declare for the NFL Draft.

Always and forever, Go Irish!”

The 6-foot-4, 228-pounder made a one-handed catch Notre Dame fans won’t soon forget to win the 2018 Citrus Bowl and turned that into momentum for the 2018 season.

Boykin entered his senior year with just 18 catches for 334 yards and three touchdowns but exploded for 59 receptions for 872 yards and eight scores in the fall.

It wasn’t a fast start for Boykin as he recorded just one catch in three of Notre Dame’s first four games, but his 11 catches for 144 yards and a touchdown against Stanford kickstarted a strong finish.

The Illinois native was asked following the Cotton Bowl loss to Clemson about his future and Boykin admitted it was going to be a difficult one.

“If I were to leave this place, it would tear me apart,” said Boykin. “I love my teammates and I love this school. I have unfinished business. I want to win a national championship.”

Boykin’s decision is likely a smart one as the 2019 receiver class is a little down while the 2020 draft class is loaded top to bottom.
