2020 Benedictine Military School (Ga.) defensive tackle Jaden Hardy‍ will make his first trip to Notre Dame this weekend and the 6-foot-3, 277-pounder is interested to see where he stands with the Irish.

The Georgia native has been in contact with On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator Jas Smith and secured the invite to Junior Day from her.

“She has been in contact with me for a while now and she invited me to Junior Day,” Hardy told Irish Sports Daily. “I like Notre Dame and then Coach Brian Kelly followed me on Twitter. It let me know they were interested in me.”

There’s a great deal of interest in Notre Dame from Hardy as he knows quite a bit about the program, but he’s looking forward to knowing more of the finer details as well.

“I know Notre Dame is a Catholic school,” said Hardy. “Notre Dame is a good school to graduate from and they have a winning tradition.

“I want to play in the College Football Playoff and I know Notre Dame can do that. I know Notre Dame played a tough schedule and they went undefeated. I like them.”

Hardy recently took a visit to Tuscaloosa and will likely head out on a few more visits this spring.

“It was good,” stated Hardy. “I have family in Alabama and that’s kind of why I went, but it was a good visit. I want to visit every school I’m interested in.”

When it comes to a position, Hardy could play a few different spots on the defensive line, but he feels he’ll end up as an interior player down the line.

“This past season, I dropped weight and played some defensive end,” explained Hardy. “I think I’m probably more of a defensive tackle.

“I’m a good pass rusher and strong at the point of attack. I’m working continuing to be a better pass rusher, but also getting bigger, faster and stronger.”
