2021 LB Patrick Turner Enjoys Notre Dame, Will Return To Camp
After one visit to Notre Dame, Patrick Turner knows he wants to come back.
And if the return visit goes well, the 2021 Texas linebacker would love the opportunity to keep coming back.
The Highland Park High School standout was in South Bend for the Irish’s Junior Day on Saturday.
“It was great,” Turner told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “It was amazing.
“I was so mesmerized by all of the tradition and all of the great history of the football program and how much they value academics. It was great.”
Turner had the opportunity to speak with Notre Dame defensive coordinator Clark Lea and assistants Brian Polian and Nick Lezynski.
“They were great,” said Turner. “They’re very focused on not just football, but all of the above; development, academics and not just life in college, but life outside of college. They’re focused on developing men and fathers.
“Their message to me was more about them wanting me to come to Notre Dame for a great education and to have a good football experience as well as getting a full college experience. They were more of an all-around school than just a football school.”
It was a message that hit home with the Dallas native.
“I’m really impressed by how much they want to care for the academic side,” he said.
Turner is looking forward to continuing the process with the Irish.
“The next step in the process is to go to camp in the summer,” he said. “Go to camp in the summer, how them what I can do and hopefully continue the relationship from there.”
What does Turner plan on showing them?
“Show them what I can do,” he said matter-of-factly.
And what exactly would that be?
“Be the best linebacker in Texas,” he added confidently.
If Turner shows the Irish that and were to land an offer, he’d be floored.
“Oh my God!” he said of what an offer would mean to him. That would be amazing. It would a dream come true if I could play football for Notre Dame.”
Turner is also receiving interest from schools like Boston College, Duke, Michigan, Clemson, Florida, Texas Tech and North Texas. He’s scheduled to visit Boston College next month.
