2020 Destrehan (La.) running back Kyle Edwards‍ had wanted to get to Notre Dame for over a year and it finally happened this weekend. The four-star prospect thoroughly enjoyed his time in South Bend and got more out of the visit than he was expecting.

“It was exciting to finally get to see the place,” Edwards stated. “I have been trying to see it for a long time, so to finally be able to see it was great.”

“The visit passed my expectations.”

The 6-foot, 200-pounder saw it all on Saturday, but the ability to maneuver the campus and the academics stuck out the most to the Louisiana native.

“The campus, especially navigation wise is easy to find everything,” explained Edwards. “The academics are good and they proved it by the numbers. Hearing the #4for40 and how they talked about how it’s not a four-year thing but it will help you out your whole life.

“They are going to help you succeed by graduating and win National Championships in football.”

Saturday was also the first time Edwards was able to meet new Notre Dame running back Lance Taylor.

“He’s a nice guy and a cool coach,” explained Edwards. “It was good to get to know more about him. I was comfortable with him.”

The Destrehan star didn’t get an offer on Saturday, but it sounds like one could be coming down the line as Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly said he would be recruiting, which meant a lot to Edwards.

“When I was talking to Coach Kelly, we didn’t really talk much about offers,” Edwards said. “The closest we got to that was saying he would be recruiting me. That’s as far as we got with that.”

Edwards was pleased with what he saw and heard on Saturday and will be back to South Bend in the future.

“I will definitely be coming back for an official visit,” said Edwards. “We were talking about that before I left with Coach (Terry) Joseph.”
