2020 WR Will Nixon Thrilled To Land Notre Dame Offer
2020 Midway (Texas) wide receiver Will Nixon made his first trip to Notre Dame over the weekend and it couldn’t have gone better.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder not only was able to experience what life at Notre Dame was about but he also left with an offer from Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly.
“Coach Kelly offered me,” Nixon told Irish Sports Daily. “I had a great time talking with him.”
Receiving the offer from Kelly was clearly the highlight of the trip, but Nixon was also impressed with Notre Dame’s facilities and tradition around the football program.
“I thought it was great,” stated Nixon. “It was good to walk around. The stadium has a lot of history. I got to walk down the tunnel and hit the Play Like A Champion sign. It was pretty sweet.
“I loved the facilities. I got to watch practice as well.”
The Waco native enjoyed watching Notre Dame’s practice and had his eye on how the receivers were used in Chip Long’s offense.
“I liked the practice style,” explained Nixon. “No one got hurt and no one was on the floor. It was great to watch. I liked what they did on offense. They coach their guys up well.”
Notre Dame receivers coach Del Alexander spent some quality time with Nixon in the film room and was able to explain the role the Midway star could play in South Bend.
“It was great to meet him,” Nixon said of Alexander. “We talked a little bit about my future if I were to go to Notre Dame and what position I would be playing. We also watched some film of big plays. He likes tough and competitive players.
“They like me primarily in the slot, but they also would like to move me around and let me be an athlete. I’ll play anywhere on the field if they need me to.”
Nixon admitted he would love to return to South Bend for an official visit, but he isn’t close to figuring out when or who will get official visits at this stage of his recruitment.
“I’d love to take one during the summer or for a game,” said Nixon.
